DO NOT USE Bravecto 3 month for Flea or Tick prevention. Bravecto is linked to seizures. We use Sentinel Spectrum for heart worm/Flea/worm prevention and Senergy (generic revolution) for tick prevention. Always start heart worm preventions before mosquitoe season. If your dog hasn’t been on prevention during mosquitoe season you will have to do a heart worm test prior to starting heart worm prevention.
Always keep Vaccinations, wormers, and heart worm prevention UTD. We vaccinate our dogs against Lyme disease (Borrelia Burgdorferi Bacterin), Rabies, kennel cough (bordetella), and Coronavirus/Distemper/Adenovirus Type 2/parainfluenza/parvovirus  (Duramune Max 5/CvK/LCIGP).

Bringing your new puppy home can be an exciting and hectic time for you and your family and you need to be prepared for your new family member. Ownership of a living being should not be taken lightly please research the breed you are considering and ask your puppies breeder for tips and advice...Let us help you make the transition easy
  • First lets talk about food: Your puppy is currently eating Nutri source large breed puppy and Go venison. We add nuvet vitamins, cottage cheese, yogurt, proplan skin and coat treats, and fresh fruits and veggies. We mix it 50/50. If you plan to switch foods please research the food and see if they have had any recalls. If you decide on another food do not go with a lamb protein it is low in fat and puppies don't do well on it. Mix our food 1/2 and 1/2 with his or her new food for at least 5 days.

  • For the first 10 weeks of your puppies life they had home cooked meals 5x a day. At 10 weeks will transition them to hard food only. A home cooked meal consists of softened puppy food, canned food, baby food, fresh fruits, fresh veggies, raw chicken paws, raw chicken livers and gizzards, cooked beef liver and juice, cottage cheese, Kelp, yogurt, vitamins, and vitamin C. Served fresh slightly warm not cold. Fresh water and hard food is available 24/7.

  • Never feed cooked chicken bones. Raw organ meat is fine in a balanced diet. Never feed anything that may contain an artificial sweetener and stay clear of foods that were bleached during processing.

  • Healthy snacks include frozen carrots, frozen blue berries (in controlled proportions), raw chicken paws, turkey necks

****Be prepared to switch your puppy from puppy food to adult food at 4 months****

Have you ordered your puppies vitamins? Call 1 (800) 474-7044 order code 84832

Veterinarian Needs: Have you scheduled your appointment with your vet yet? Please get your puppy examined by a veterinarian of your choosing with in 72 hours of bringing home. Email a copy of your vets wellness exam to sarah1994sl@yahoo.com

Before your vet appointment make a copy of your puppies health records and shot/worming schedule. Never repeat vaccinations if its not necessary!

If you want your puppy micro chipped please notify us prior to pick up...For those who ask for their puppy to be chipped don't forget to register those microchips!

Explain to your vet the importance of not spaying or neutering your puppy until 3 years old! Early spay and neutering causes abnormal growth and doubles the chances of hip dysplasia.

Get your puppy on a veterinarian recommended shot and worming schedule. Talk about the best heart worm preventative (do your research for side affects on the products)

Set up wellness exams. A yearly blood panel is recommended. Talk to your vet about the importance of the lyme vaccine!!

Picking your puppy up in person or have had arrangements made for us to deliver to you?
Remember to bring baby wipes, extra newspapers, a travel crate (at least 28 inches), a couple old towels, food and water dishes, and water. Puppies will have accidents and its important that you come prepared!

Have you made arrangements for someone to be with the puppy for the first 24 hours after he/she arrives their new home? Our babies are leaving their mom, siblings, and the only home they know they are bound to cry for the first few nights. They are bound to stress it so lets make their transition as easy as we can. Signs of stress can include crying, whining, panting, loose stools, pale gums, and nervousness. Give your puppy a couple table spoons of vanilla yogurt. Have a safe place set up for them that has adsorbent bedding and food and water. Leave food and water with them 24/7 for the 1st week. Panting may mean he or she is to warm so adjust the thermostat accordingly. A safe place can include a crate or round pen with a nice soft bed and safe toys. Never leave a collar on your puppy while crated! Purchase a snuggle puppy to help your puppy during their adjustment period. Petsmart and other retailers offer snuggle puppies or their brand. A snuggle puppy is a stuffed dog with a heart beat and warming pad.

Training- Have you talked with a trainer about puppy classes? Never enter your puppy in a class with un vaccinated dogs and make sure your puppy has all of their vaccines. Socialization is critical so take your puppy to as many places as you can and introduce them to all sounds and surfaces.

The first 24 hours
Whats to be expected? Crying...cuddling...and sweet puppy kisses. Getting your puppy settled into your home and getting them on your schedule will take a little time but be patient they are well worth it. Make sure your puppy eats and drinks. Take them outside anytime they whine or every 30 minutes while you are getting them settled in to avoid accidents. Reward them when they potty outside. Make sure your house is safe for a puppy. Stairs should be gated off so a puppy doesn't accidentally fall down them. Chemicals should be out of reach and debris should not be present around or near a puppy (broken sticks, beads, Lego's, chewed pieces of a toy, etc) Never leave your puppy unattended! Puppies will chew! Give them safe toys to play with.

What should you buy for your new puppy? A crate, bed, food, treats, yogurt, nuvet vitamins, toys, snuggle puppy, shampoo, nail clipper, comb, slicker brush, under coat rake, water and food dish, food storage container, ear rinse and q tips, and heart worm preventative

House Training- A lot of people ask us what we have done for house training and that's an excellent question we have started them on newspaper training and we will start them on house breaking to our doggy door. Will your puppy be 100 % house broken? No, but they will be well on their way to house breaking. Accidents are bound to happen.

AKC Registration- Should be registered online or mailed in to AKC. When you register your puppy you get a complimentary veterinarian office visit free and a free 30 day trail of pet health insurance. So register your puppy as soon as you get home! Don't forget to use Dyer Lake in his or her registered name! At any time in your puppies life you can not keep them we will take them back no questions asked. Never abandon them or put them in the pound. We are here for our puppies and we will make arrangements to get them home.

We have done everything in our power to ensure the health and happiness of our puppies and its now time for you to take full responsibility for your puppy. We start the weaning process at 8 weeks old and they remain with their mother until 10.5 weeks old. They are fed a quality diet. Groomed regularly. They are on a vet recommended shot/worming/heart guard plan. They will have a complete wellness exam with a cardio check at 10 weeks and they will leave our home at 10.5 weeks old with vet paper work in hand and transition food/treats/toys/training guides etc.

I am trusting you with one of our babies please do not abuse my trust...Don't spay or neuter until 3 years old, never have your puppy overweight, do not neglect your puppy, and provide veterinarian care. Feed a quality kibble or balanced raw.

Our puppies are very important to us and no one would ever understand what a breeder goes through for each litter. Sleepless nights, emergency vet visit (if necessary), and sleeping on the kitchen floor along side momma and babies. We have watched them grow and we have cared for them for the first 10.5 weeks of life. We were here when they started to walk, we were here when they started to talk, and we were here when they started to eat. We have done everything in our power to ensure health and happiness...
