When it comes to food we only feed the best. Each of our dogs prefer their own food or a mix of two foods. We use base mixes from honest kitchen and spot farms, freeze dried wellness, and raw instinct. In the past we have fed Earthborn holistic, taste of the wild, and pro plan. Currently we are feeding native, Purina One, and holistic Select. We add in wellness air dried mixers, probiotics, Kefir farmers cheese (probiotic), fish flakes, fish oil, nula freeze dried mixers or Merrick freeze dried mixers. WE NO LONGER FEED STRICTLY GRAIN FREE DIETS BECAUSE OF THE LINK TO HEART ISSUES...We pick the food thats best suited for our puppies. We do not feed foods with lamb as the main protein. Our puppies are switched from puppy food to adult food at 4 months or we don't feed puppy food at all. It depends on the puppies themselves.
Never have your growing newfoundland over weight. All the extra weight is hard on the joints and it can lead to environmental health issues. A growing newfoundland puppy should be 10 lbs or under per one month.
If your dog or puppy is lacking nutrition from their kibble their skin, coat, and body condition will show it. Their are hundreds of foods out their but you have to research the best ones for your puppy. Some kibble is cheap and its not considered quality nutrition even though its fed by many doesn't mean its safe for your puppy. Always check for recalls and never feed weight control or weight management foods. Never feed kibbles in bits, retriever, alpo, or other foods along those lines.
